Description
FOR AS LITTLE AS 500 YOU CAN COMMISSION ME TO PAINT A PORTRAIT OF YOUR FAVOURITE VEHICLE IN THIS STYLE JUST E-MAIL: mike@transportartist.co.uk
This beautiful vehicle with gracious Duple bodywork is typical of Royal Blues immediate post-war fleet and is in the original livery with the dark painted roof which suited this model better than the cream finish adopted later. The designation LWL6B means that this is the longer and wider version of the previous L model and was powered by the 6 cylinder Bristol engine and is one of a batch of 24 vehicles ordered by the company in 1951 when changes in Construction and Use regulations allowed an increase in length for single-deck PSVs from 27ft 6in to 30ft.
These Bristols, considered by enthusiasts with an eye for the aesthetic as strong candidates for the most elegant coaches ever built, were to have long lives in front line Royal Blue service most being withdrawn in 1963.
I was lucky enough to own a Bristol LL6B in the early seventies when I lived in it for about a year but circumstances dictated that I had to let it go and I think it was eventually scraped.
A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American in acrylics on A3 heavyweight watercolour paper would cost 500.
