THIS PAINTING IN OILS ON A 20″30″ CANVAS IS FOR SALE. E-MAIL mike@transportartist.co.uk FOR DETAILS.
The Ace cafe plays host to a couple of tipper lorries on a summers day in the 1950s. The newer Parrot Nose Dodge contrasts with the elderly Bedford O type but basically they do the same job day in day out until completely worn out, only then will they depart to their final resting place in some scrapyard to rust away to dust.

Thanks so much for your kind comment Ann, like the USA practically all these transport cafes have been forced out of business by laws which benefit only the big corporations and not the consumer. Here in Britain not so long ago there were petrol stations galore, one would never have to worry about running out of fuel but they have been forced out by the supermarkets price cutting wars so that now because filling stations are so few and far between one tends to fill up a tank to capacity rather than just top up with a few gallons. I despise the way the supermarkets have destroyed so many High Street shops and denuded our town and village communities of their local facilities and bustle but feel helpless to do anything that will have any lasting effect to right the situation.

This excellent work of art depicts an entire way of life that is passing into history...Here in the US, these roadside diners were a Godsend to weary drivers who made their livings on the road. Now, the USDA and many other agencies would never allow them in operation because of sanitation laws, etc, etc. Now, walk-ups are as close as we will get to this old type of diner. I appreciate your attention to detail and your realistic methods of painting--definitely my cup of tea!
