Artist's Description
YOU TOO CAN COMMISSION MIKE TO PAINT YOUR VERY OWN ORIGINAL OF YOUR FAVOURITE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE EITHER BRITISH OR AMERICAN, A SOUND INVESTMENT FROM WHOM MANY REGARD AS BRITAIN'S LEADING TRANSPORT ARTIST. JUST E-MAIL mike@transportartist.co.uk
Two King class locomotives storm out of Newton Abbott with an express for Plymouth on a busy Summer Saturday in the mid-fifties when holiday trains and specials had to be worked into an already tight timetable. Within a mile the train would reach the start of Dainton bank the first of the fearsome Devon gradients on the route to the West.
In the background a Devon General bus is passing over the bridge bound for the bus station in Newton Abbott having traveled from Torquay or possibly Brixham and in the far distance stands the cooling tower of the now defunct power station.

About Mike Jeffries
COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Mike sadly passed away November 2020 aged 81, but I, (his partner) will keep his shop here going and am happy to reply to any emails you might send to his own email address at mike@transportartist.co.uk. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry...

Mike, looks like the end of my earlier message is missing. Should say not a risk assessment form in site !!
Mike Jeffries
Many thanks David, it was a time so far removed from today's world that sometimes I think I must have imagined it all!

Fantastic steam railway images Mike, loved your comments on the Kenilworth picture about the "elf n safety" brigade of modern day. I remember being given a ride in the cab of 70015 Apollo at Stockport shed in the early 60's, and not a risk assessment form in site !
