British Road Services was, of course, the body set up by the British Transport Commission on the nationalisation of the transport industry by the immediate post-war Labour government to operate long distance road haulage in Britain. Bristol vehicles were built specifically for the nationialised concern to their specification and the HA was the tractor unit which carried various body styles over its production life.
Here on what passed as a trunk road in pre-motorway days a fully loaded unit fights for traction on a steep gradient while fellow drivers are on hand to help as best they can.

COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Mike sadly passed away November 2020 aged 81, but I, (his partner) will keep his shop here going and am happy to reply to any emails you might send to his own email address at mike@transportartist.co.uk.
