Sir Robert Fossetts travelling circus was one of the last still operating into the early eighties in England and had the largest fleet of ex-military vehicles of any circus at the time. Among them were three AEC Militants, two 64s and one 66 and this 1952 example is a 64 with a box body.

COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Mike sadly passed away November 2020 aged 81, but I, (his partner) will keep his shop here going and am happy to reply to any emails you might send to his own email address at mike@transportartist.co.uk. Virtually nobody considered the humble lorry worthy of the subject of a painting until Mike made it so. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry...

Hi Mike can't locate your Limestreet image!L

Thank you Maria, I must see if I can rectify that soon but I do tend to paint what I have experienced first-hand and for my sins I have never been to Liverpool. As compensation I do have an image of Lime Street station here on FAA you may like to look at. Birmingham buses do have a special place in my affections because I spent my formative years there and as a boy always wanted to be able to drive a Birmingham bus. My chance came much later in the late eighties when the bus company I worked for in Brixham bought two ex BTC secondhand double-deckers and put them to work, you see all things come to those who wait!

Mike I was so disappointed when browsing through your images at finding no Liverpool buses! I love the detail in your work and the nostalgia that they bring. i used to play with my brothers matchbox vehicles and there was a wide variety which you seem to have reproduced in your images. I like every image. The road sweeper and the Birmingham buses are of interest because I am writing a friend's life story, he lived in Birmingham for a while and one of the chapters is about the road sweepers. I will send you the chapter when I get a chance. I think you may enjoy it. Your biography was really well written and very interesting :)
