Fantastic image of the early Landys. I had not heard of the Beaver and Brockhouse combination, so thank you for the great details as usual. f/v

This specially constructed 1950 Leyland Beaver and Brockhouse trailer is seen here leaving the Rover works at Solihull, Birmingham bound for Liverpool docks with its cargo of eight brand new Land Rovers for export in the days when Britain was a world beater in the production of motor vehicles for the markets of the immediate post-war world.. The whole ensemble which weighed in at nearly 20 tons could be and was driven on trade-plates but the C&U regulations in Britain meant that a trailer mate had to be carried to accompany the driver.

A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American, in oils on canvas or board would cost about 2000.

About Mike Jeffries

Mike Jeffries

COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Mike sadly passed away November 2020 aged 81, but I, (his partner) will keep his shop here going and am happy to reply to any emails you might send to his own email address at mike@transportartist.co.uk. Virtually nobody considered the humble lorry worthy of the subject of a painting until Mike made it so. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry...
